Pro-Knot App Reviews

Ive bought a few applications to suit my knot-tying needs and lets just say I was less than satisfied. With the Pro-Knot app, however, my needs were fulfilled. Its nice to be in the great outdoors and have the most necessary knots for many occasions at my fingertips. Thank you John Sherry for creating this application; Ive been waiting a long time for it!!

I have the other knot apps (Knot Time and Knot Guide), but I prefer this app for its simplicity and focus. It provides only the essential knots and a good description of when to use them. However, I think all the apps are great together because some knots are tricky and the different representations can really help.

A very clean interface, quick to load and easy to understand, even for the novice. This will be a great tool for me!

Wow, John! Your organization & communication skills shine thru on this very cool app! I love that you explain in simple straightforward terms what each knot is used for, & then give the history of each one. Never knew knots could be so darn interesting! I grew up sailing on my dads boat all the time as a kid & was constantly asked to remember to tie different knots! I would always forget! Now next time he comes to visit Im gonna surprise the heck out of him & show him a knot or two that I just happen to now. ;-) And now, having a reference on how to tie knots AND which ones to use in different situations, Im all set! This is very very good application. I like it and recommendable. I even have the web site location on my fav. Just one question. Is this one going to have an upgrade? If theres one can you guys add the "Non Slip Loop knot". Like I said, this is my reference guide and I also show this app to my friends specially my friends wants to go fishing(first time) Still a five star for me.

Even though, overall, it is a nice app. it really annoying to constantly have to "Agree" to the discalimer concerning climbing liability. It may be my light touch, but I have problems being able to hit the small arrow to switch between sceens.

I bought this after seeing it in the "Whats Hot" list. Ive been wanting a knot tying app and the references to a book and decent reviews made it sound like a good deal for $0.99. After checking it out, its probably worth what I paid but not more. First, the "warning" about climbing is annoying every time you start the app. The diagrams are just simple drawings in a single color, but on the plus side, there is a text description that sorta kinda explains the next step. But It uses knot lingo (like "standing end") that you have to figure out. It has a useful set of knots but isnt a "reference" on a bunch of knots. After being intrigued by this app, I did a search for "knot" on the App Store and found a bunch. I eventually also bought Knot Guide (by Winkpass I believe). It is only $0.99 more and not only does it have more knots, but actual photographs augmented with directional arrows, a Favorite Knots feature for quick access, a knot lingo page and the ability to suppress the startup/warning page. You also dont have to rotate your phone. For me, I think I like it better, if for no other reason than it has a few more knots to try.

Could have used it yesterday and now I have it.. Great app for fishing fans

I have always wanted a rope tying app and i have finally found one. The only thing it needs is a video tutorial

This app works great. Does everything accept tie the knot for you. Its worth every penny.

Good start but needs more knots. A google search will get you more knots.

This is a great app and Ive used it several times. The ONE thing that would make this perfect is a list or something that would give you definitions of what the knots are good for. Most of the time I know what I want I want to create but dont know which knot is appropriate.

I was going to buy a book on knots but this is a great deal and has most of the knots I was interested in. I would love to see a section on hunting/outdoor knots such as the prussic under a diffrent section for easy refrence and application. The fishing section is great. Thanks

If you know basic knots, you wont get much out of it. I was a boy scout in my day and knew most of the knots and hitches. Add more!

Very nice app but it would be nice to have a few more knots in an update.

Love this. Simple and elegant. I used to know some of these way back when I was a boy scout and have long since forgotten, but this makes it easy to remember when the need arises, and it does, not infrequently. Its apps like this that make the iphone so incredibly useful! Good going, Mr. Sherry!

Great app to have for the outdoors. Easy and simple to use with all the knots in one place. I have random knot guides in my camping kit and this makes things a bit easier without having to sort through my gear. Great deal since physical guides are $5+, great app!
